They mounted the rocky hill to a view eerie enough to suit the occasion. Clouds hung low overhead in a full panorama, roiling darkly as if foretelling a storm of unprecedented fury. Just below on an outcrop of rock they could see two women and an unpleasantly familiar object. The more striking of the two was unforgettable once you had met her, and indeed they had before. The witch's long, white hair and curious horns made her recognizable from a great distance. The other woman looked less remarkable, as indeed almost anyone would next to her companion, but the two on the hilltop knew her by reputation nonetheless.
